Georgetown County Council Unanimously Approves 5th Redistricting Map

On February 8th, after months of discourse and several maps, Georgetown County Council approved Map 650. A process that occurs ever 10 years as a result of the latest census data, redistricting is meant to ensure accurate representation of citizens on County Council and the School Board, though gerrymandering is a very real threat to that representation. Thanks to a community of engaged and informed citizens, acceptable boundaries were drawn and our county government will represent the people it serves fairly and accurately.
