Blue Sunday Guest Speaker
One of our outstanding speakers for our Blue Sunday event on May 5th is the wonderful Jimmy Williams!
Jimmy Williams is an independent opinion journalist and political consultant in South Carolina. He was most recently the Host of the Scripps-owned podcast DecodeDC for over two years and an MSNBC Political Contributor for more than five years. Jimmy was previously the Executive Editor and Founder of Bluenationreview.com which is now Shareblue.com. Jimmy spent seven years as a senior staffer in the United States Senate, including five years as the Senior Economic Policy Advisor to Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (IL). A former lobbyist, he represented multiple interests before the U.S. Congress and the Executive branch, including the real estate industry, the banking industry, the wine and spirits industry, and the speedracing industry. In the summer of 2011, Jimmy gave up lobbying to become a full-time political opinion and investigative journalist.
Jimmy continues to appear as a political analyst on MSNBC and CNBC. He has written for Vox, The Daily Beast, and continues to be a source for dozens of reporters and journalists covering politics. An expert on Senate procedure and the political process, Jimmy spends the winter at his family’s plantation in the Low Country of South Carolina and the NC mountains the rest of the year. He’s an avid gardener, hunts and fishes, and thinks bourbon makes the Trump Administration tolerable (although he admits that remedy isn’t sustainable over the long term).
